The Newtownfane to Haynestown Pipeline & Cappagh South IJ Replacement project was awarded to SICIM/Roadbridge JV in July 2014. SICIM/Roadbridge has undertaken the role of Main Contractor and PSCS for the construction of the pipeline. Construction began in August 2014 and all works were completed by early December 2014.
This project consists of the construction of a 2.6km 200mm welded steel gas pipeline from Newtownfane to Haynestown, and a new 85bar to 4bar Above Ground Installation (AGI) within IDA lands at Haynestown, Dundalk, Co.Louth. The scheme involved 4no. HDD trenchless crossings, including trenchless M1 Motorway, Intercity Railway line, National road and River Crossing. It involved hot-tap works on the live 450mm North-South pipeline, and testing & commissioning of the works. The project also consists of Works required to complete the replacement of the 750mm diameter Insulation Joint at Cappagh South AGI, Co. Galway. The works required the excavation of Stopple pit, welding on of Screw-Loc split tees, fabrication & installation of temporary bypass, Hot-tapping of existing 750mm line, Installation of line-stop, cut-out & replacement of existing IJ, decommissioning of bypass and re-commissioning of 750mm pipeline.
